3Novices:Africa: Land and Gender-Based Violence: Experiences from Rwanda and Liberia

[Focus on Land]Gender-based violence (GBV) is a profound problem in many countries of sub-Saharan Africa: in Rwanda, 35 percent of women have reported experiencing physical, sexual, or emotional violence from a spouse or partner; in Liberia, 49 percent of women experienced violence from an intimate partner. Yet, GBV is a global problem affecting women from all countries, races, ethnicities, and religions.
